Jermaine Jackson speaks on behalf of family


JERMAINE Jackson has said that the death of his younger brother had left the family devastated.

Speaking at a press conference press at the UCLA Hospital, Jermaine said his younger brother died after suffering a suspected heart attack at his Los Angeles home.

He was taken to the UCLA medical centre where he was pronounced dead at 2.26pm Pacific time (10.26pm BST).

Jermaine said: "My brother, the legendary King of Pop, passed away on Thursday June 25 at 2.26pm.

"We believe he suffered a cardiac arrest at his home, however the cause of his death is unknown until the results of the autopsy are known.

"The personal physician who was with him at the time attempted to resuscitated him."

He said a team of doctors at UCLA Medical Center also tried for more than an hour to revive the star.

MICHAEL JACKSON has died at the age of 50.

Minutes ago, the coroner at the UCLA hospital confirmed to the world that the legendary singer had passed away.

He added that an autopsy would take place today.

The pop star was rushed to hospital in Los Angeles this afternoon after suffering a suspected heart attack.

The 50-year-old singer was not breathing when emergency services arrived at his Bel Air home at about 12.30 Californian time, 19.30 GMT.

Paramedics performed CPR on Jackson as the ambulance took him to the UCLA medical centre.

Police have had to rope off the emergency centre as crowds converge outside the facility as the news began to spread.

His family rushed to his bedside, including his sister Latoya, who was reportedly seen crying and running into the hospital.

Jackson was due to begin a series of comeback concerts at London's O2 arena starting on 13 July.

He has a history of health problems, including recent reports he was suffering from skin cancer.
